We Have Lift Off!

It's Snapshot Saturday! This fun meme is sponsored by Alyce of At Home With Books! Photos can be old or new, and be of any subject as long as they are clean and appropriate for all eyes to see. How much detail you give in the caption is entirely up to you. Please don't post random photos that you find online.

I went for a helicopter ride a couple weeks ago and these are some of the shots I took as we left the Terrance B. Lettsome Airport behind.  The view is of Trellis Bay and the little ferry is taking guests to one of the smaller islands.

We pull away...

High...

Higher!

I'll post some other photos of the trip soon.

  1. These are great. I've never been in a helicopter -- too chicken I suspect:)

    1. We were already in the air and on the way back when my cousin next to me realized she hadn't closed her door properly. I leaned over her to slide the pin across but I couldn't get it done. The pilot told her she could just hold it closed and people fly with open doors all the time but my cousin wasn't having any of it so the pilot reached back to try locking it. Meanwhile, there's a hill we're heading straight at so I'm like "Watch where you're going." The pilot gave me a look but then turned around and re-landed so the door could be closed. Other than that it was really cool!

  5. Absolutely thrilling! I can only imagine, though, since I've never been in one.

Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.

  6. It wasn't until we rose a bit higher and then a mountain loomed in front of us, that scary possibilities claimed my attention. I distracted myself by taking more photos.

    1. How lovely of you to say so! I was in the Middle East once and this man asked me where I was from. When I told him, he smiled hugely and said "Ah, God's own country." It was such a great thing to say, I've remembered it years after.
